My experience riding a bicycle across the United States in 2015 gave me a real-life example of the essential role of an achievement roadmap.  Before I ever dipped the front tire of my bicycle into the Pacific Ocean, I knew that on some future day I would ride 79.7 miles from Tucson, Arizona to Willcox, Arizona and 119 miles from Van Horn, Texas to Fort Stockton, Texas.
